inViVo Vision researchers offer solution to manufacturing education crisis.

+ see press release

Abstract of presentation:

In this presentation we summarize the issues raised in our paper, mainly the need for bringing the traditional training concept of the apprenticeship, the educational legacy of the manufacturing industry, into the 21st Century, through the integration of knowledge and content management with collaboration technologies. We propose that an integrated technology-based approach can be guided by the principles of agile learning as applied to the concept of agile manufacturing. Within that framework, we further propose the development of specialized online training tools to address systematic workforce development through e-pprenticeships in order to significantly improve the skills and knowledge of the manufacturing workforce using only well-established constructs for online content inclusion, intelligent instruction, and assessment technologies as a function of the agile learning philosophy.

Dr. Masullo gives keynote presentation at Yale School of Business for NSHMBA annual networking event.

Abstract of presentation:

We know that Hispanics are the nation's largest minority and that in less than fifty years Hispanics will make up a quarter of the population. It is also a fact that the vast majority of Hispanic families consist of married couples with children under 18. These children have higher high school dropout rates and lower college completion rates than any other group of Americans. Those who achieve higher education tend to concentrate in business, social sciences and education. There is a positive relationship between education and salary for all racial/ethnic groups, but the incomes of Hispanic men are lower than those of White men at most educational levels. In this discussion we will explain why some of these facts remain a national problem and what we can do to build a better future for Hispanics and for America.

inVivoVision's Opening Plenary at Ireland's HEAnet National Networking Conference

inViVoVision, Inc., presented the Opening Plenary - From Black Box to Crystal Ball: Still a journey at Ireland's National Education and Research Network Conference. In considering the future of Education & Research Networking and the Internet, the evolution of technology over the last twenty years has been marked by great accomplishments and unanticipated (surprising) results. Both industry and government were unprepared for the affinity with technology that the general public inherently had, and the demands imposed on the technology sector both in terms of solutions and talent. Today we examine 1) Education, 2) Research Networking and 3) the Internet as distinct scenarios in the evolution of technology into the future. After a brief summary of already examined views, we followed with the presentation of examples in each of the three areas discussed based on work being undertaken by inViVo Vision scientists. These will include Pedagogenomics, Personal Research Networking Space and the Carousel Website Solution.

inViVoVision Participates in United Nations Roundtable

The United Nations Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Task Force, in partnership with Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and Digital Partners, organized the roundtable discussion The Digital Bridge to Latin America and Caribbean, which was held at the United Nations Headquarters.

The goal of this invitation-only meeting was to bring together prominent individuals from the Latin America and Caribbean Diaspora, as well as leaders from technology corporations, foundations, and non-profit organizations interested in advancing the region, in order to develop a network that harnesses the knowledge, experiences and resources of the group in service to Latin America and the Caribbean.

Dr. Miriam Masullo of inViVo Vision, Inc. participated in the panel on the The Opportunity Technology Offers in Advancing Development in Latin America and Caribbean and presented following vision on How Technology Creates New Opportunities for Advancing the Region.

The history of technology is marked by transformation, but only when changes become disruptive can we change the game. We need disruptive technologies to irreversibly transform Latin America and the Caribbean. The two key technology components of transformation, in this case, are ACCESS and COLLABORATION.

Access can be achieved via a data broadcast technologies. The founders of inViVo Vision have long worked on specialized technologies for access to knowledge and information via technology, where access is nearly impossible or cost prohibited. Data broadcast technologies can be implemented with as little as a TV set and a digital set-top box. Such solutions can not only bring about equity of access, but can also improve the quality of the educational content, because such content must be conditioned for delivery and in the process an increased focus on fresh content is an opportunity for quality education. We can indeed provide quality and access. The tools exist that can provide the transformation. We must create the collaboration that will irreversibly transform the region, so that going back will never again be possible, by changing the way in which we approach the problem.

Collaboration technologies are the tools of teamwork. The right kind of collaboration tool can make the difference between transforming the region and merely demonstrating the possibilities. A powerful collaboration tool, that can be used in concert with the digital data broadcast technologies will complement and realize the needed massive solution. It is not enough to be able to reach via effective use of technologies, we must also be able to scale to the universal needs of an education infrastructure. We must provide education for all grades and for all subject areas, training, information and skills development. Only then, can we transform the region. Collaboration tools as we know them and understand them are insufficient to meet the needs of a global and universal educational infrastructure. We must deploy specialized collaboration tools.

InViVo Vision is working to provide the technology vision for a world wise future with technology. At inViVo Vision, a team of dedicated researchers are working to provide the world with transformational technologies that will change the way we live and work. We are committed to transforming the future with technology. This is a real goal and we have real technologies to achieve it.

inViVoVision Introduces New Technology Concept at Hall of States Symposium

inViVoVision Introduces New Technology Concept at Hall of States Symposium 07/31/03 inViVo Vision, Inc., introduced the concept of "Pedagonemics: The Science of e-Learning" at the International Programs Panel of the Symposium on Global e-Learning: How to Bring the World into the Community, held at the Hall of States today in Washington D.C. today.

"Pedagogenomics is a scientific concept, Dr. Linda Tsansis and I have been working on for some time. The conjunction of cognitive science, pedagogy and new advances in technology gives researchers the opportunity to break barriers in education technology that were prohibited until now," said Dr. Miriam J. Masullo, founder of inViVo Vision, Inc. Dr. Masullo and Dr. Tsantis see the potential for making a breakthrough in global e-learning through this new concept. They presented their ideas at a panel that focused on the international issues of Global e-Learning. "Information and cognitive sciences can provide the catalyst needed to ignite a "disruptive" change capable of "true" innovation -- not transformation, not reinvention, not repurposing," adds Dr. Tsantis. The team has been working on the concept for more than year and is ready to publish the results of their research.

inViVo Vision, Inc. is developing advanced integrated solutions for a host of media and communication intensive real-time applications in the areas of international education. Dr. Masullo and Dr. Tsantis presented the first time the conceptual foundations, which they call Pedagogenomics, for what will be the inViVo Vision line of applications and services for the international e-learning market. A dedicated Website at http://www.pedagogenomics.com will be used to inform the academic and business communities about these developments.

Dr. Masullo is an internationally recognized expert in educational technology who has consistently pioneered the application to education of the most advanced technology solutions including, interactive multimedia, video-on-demand and digital libraries. Dr. Dr. Tsantis, who is now coordinating the JHU Technology for Educators Graduate Program, is mainly interested in understanding how to use technology to improve teaching and learning. Both scientists have common research interests in Data-Based Decision Making, Technology Ethics, Disruptive Technology, and Technology Applications in Diagnostic-Prescriptive. They are working on the technical, educational and social science aspects of international e-learning. A lot of their work is in this area focuses on technologies that have the potential to make profound changes, referred to as disruptive technologies.

"I am absolutely committed," said Dr. Tsantis, ""to the belief that we must apply the same rigor to providing high quality education as we apply to developing high quality military troops and high quality technology applications that are the "difference makers" in our business community. Educating our children is the cornerstone of our national defense. The inequity of an uneducated American is in his/her inability to be a fully participating citizen. Democracy demands more than "open door" education and "high stakes" testing. Democracy demands that we value all Americans and show it with the best education system on earth."

inViVo Vision is committed to these principles and will announce its advanced e-learning solution based on a suite of integrated technologies for global e-learning. The solution will be ready for the general market by the fall of 2003.
